Childhood Obesity Statistics – Reasons to Get Our Kids Healthy
The word childhood obesity is not a favorite of many people especially if your child is overweight. However it is important to understand that when your child is overweight it is up to you the parent or caregiver to help them lose weight. Here are five reasons to help your kid to lose weight and get healthy.
? Self esteem: when your kid is overweight they do not feel good about themselves. This leads to loss of self esteem. When this happens it sets off a domino effect of problems for your kid.
o They are not happy and tend to take out their anger on everyone around them, especially family members. This makes them difficult to live with.
o They do not make an effort to cooperate and help around the house with chores like the other members of the family. This causes stress and strife within the family.
o They do not put in their best effort at school and their grades start to fall and they may even fail in some subjects. This causes more problems at school and home.
?No more bulling: losing weight will help your kid at school. Bullies love to pick on obese kids and when your kid is no longer “the fat kid” the bullies move on. This is a great relief for your kid as bullying is a real problem for overweight kids and just adds to their misery. In fact bulling can get so bad that your child can become suicidal.
?Improve their health: losing weight will not only help your child to feel physically healthier but also improve their mental health. They will feel better about themselves and be less depressed.
?Start getting active: when your kid starts to lose weight they will feel better and be more active. This will help them to lose more weight and snowball their way to victory.
?Be more social: As the weight comes off so will that feeling that nobody wants them start disappearing. Your kid will get more social and easier to live with. They will stop relying on food to give them comfort and start going out and mingling with their peers and family.
These are just five of the many reasons your child should lose weight. When you work with them and support them, your child can lose weight and start to enjoy their life again. You will be setting them up for a good future life instead of letting them grow into sad fat adults.
